Don Werner

Donald Werner considers himself a lifer in the field of financial planning. He studied finance formally in college and has followed it consistently since then. He has been a conscientious investor for 35 years, both personally and with family investments. Thus, it was a natural transition for him when he decided to move into professionally advising clients as an Investment Advisor Representative. Prior to making this shift, Don managed small businesses in the US and the Bahamas, helping the owners focus their strategy on their customer base and fine tune that strategy over time.

Don chose to work at Lebin Financial Planning because, as he says, “We are focused first on the client.” Operating as a fiduciary to their clients, the professionals at Lebin Financial strive to make decisions in clients’ best interests and to use helpful and up-to-date technology in the planning process and managing clients’ accounts.

Don loves financial advising because each family is unique, having their own set of circumstances. His management experience, paired with his investment knowledge make Don especially adept at creating individualized plans to fit his clients’ needs.

In working with clients, Don works to connect with the individual family. What are their visions, values, and goals? By first understanding them and what they are about, he can better develop a strategy to help meet those goals and manage the results. He helps his clients to achieve the duel retirement process of asset accumulation and income distribution, thus assisting his clients in maintaining a lifetime of income as well as passing on a legacy to future generations. Don often needs to remind his clients, “It is most important to know what you own in your investment portfolio, and why you own it.”

Don enjoys helping families plan because his own family has always been number one in his life. A resident of Geneva, Illinois since 1995, Don lives with his wife Martha and their two adored Tibetan Terriers, Bentley and Godiva. He has a grown son, Byron and two granddaughters Caitlyn and Sydney. In his spare time, he donates time and support to the Hesed House homeless shelter in Aurora. Don is also a member of the American Association of Individual Investors.
